As the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) debates from June 16–19 whether or not President Joe Biden and other self-professed Catholic politicians in support of abortion should be able to receive Holy Communion, a recent poll shows that almost three quarters of church-going Catholics are opposed.

Summer 2021 is shaping up to be “abnormally violent” according to one expert, as data shows murders continue to rise in major American cities and the threat of more riots looms large.

According to John Roman, a senior fellow at the economics, justice and society group at NORC at the University of Chicago, the disruption of routine activities thanks to COVID lockdowns and the further loss of faith in the police will lead to more violent disorder.

If the Republican Party has any chance of taking back the White House in 2024, they need to take a page from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ playbook and push back against the radical left.

The Republican governor stood up to the COVID-19 bullies who practically predicted a mass extinction event when he decided to reopen his state and revive its economy during the pandemic — a move that put him in the political crosshairs even as Floridians thrived.

DeSantis has continued to advance a conservative agenda, including recent anti-riot legislation that increases penalties for crimes committed during civil unrest, provides legal protections for drivers forced to make their way through a riot roadblock, and withholds state aid from any locality that pushed to defund police.

Twenty twenty was an unpleasant year for so many reasons. It was a year of riots, unemployment, and the trend in overall rising mortality continued unabated.

Homicides also increased.

In fact, in preliminary homicide data, it looks like homicides increased a lot in 2020.

According to the FBI’s Preliminary Uniform Crime Report for the first half of 2020, “murder and nonnegligent manslaughter offenses increased 14.8%, and aggravated assault offenses were up 4.6%.”
