Four have been arrested in a multi-agency operation sparked by a German investigation into one of Europe’s most prolific child sexual abuse platforms on the dark web.
These arrests were made in Germany (3) and Paraguay (1) earlier this month. The arrested individuals – all German nationals, had various roles in relation to the site seized.

A boy who was solicited and recruited for sex trafficking as a minor, and endured continued victimization after Twitter refused to remove material depicting his sexual abuse, has sued the social media company.
According to the lawsuit, the claimant, who is still a minor and is referred to as John Doe, “seeks to shine a light on how Twitter has enabled and profited from CSAM (child sexual abuse material) on its platform, choosing profits over people, money over the safety of children, and wealth at the expense of human freedom and human dignity.”

Columbia’s Vice President for Manhattanville Development Marcelo Velez was taken into police custody on Monday. Velez, who has worked for the University for 25 years, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of sexual assault by contact for an alleged incident with a girl under the age of 13. According to court records, the assault is reported to have taken place on Jan 2. inside a guest room at Velez’s home in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey—just steps away from a local elementary school.
The relationship between Velez and the young girl is unknown at present. The report that led to Velez’s arrest was made by the child’s mother.

DUBLIN/TUAM, Ireland (Reuters) – Thousands of infants died in Irish homes for unmarried mothers and their offspring mostly run by the Catholic Church from the 1920s to the 1990s, an inquiry found on Tuesday, an “appalling” mortality rate that reflected brutal living conditions.
The report found no statutory regulations were in place for the foreign adoptions of 1,638 children – mostly to the United States. Vaccine trials for diphtheria, polio, measles and rubella were also carried out on children without their consent.
The report, which covered 18 so-called Mother and Baby Homes where over decades young pregnant women were hidden from society, is the latest in a series of government-commissioned papers that have laid bare some of the Catholic Church’s worst abuses.
Around 9,000 children died in all, Tuesday’s report found – a mortality rate of 15%. The proportion of children who died before their first birthday in one home, Bessborough, in County Cork, was as high as 75% in 1943.
Infants were taken from mothers and sent overseas to be adopted. Children were vaccinated without consent.

A lengthy prosecution of teachers and owners of the Manhattan Beach California-based Virginia McMartin Preschool for sexual abuse allegations dominated news headlines and broadcasts throughout the 1980s. An initial investigation involving interviews with hundreds of McMartin students by an experienced child therapist found a majority of students affirming such abuse.
Despite abundant evidence and blanket media coverage the defendants were acquitted in 1990 after six years of trial proceedings costing $15 million. Defendant Raymond Buckey was retried shortly thereafter and again exonerated.
The observations of students included a number of tunnels existing underneath McMartin classrooms and bathrooms connecting to external exits, through which students passed to be taken to other locations where they attended and partook in occult rituals. Following the McMartin students’ allegations reports of similar abuse began to emerge at preschools throughout the US.
