  1. Hey James. I just had a thought. Everything the Powers That Be (PTB) have done in reaction to your work screams you are right. From the highest hill top. Going after Alex Jones when he barely weighed in on Sandy Hook, not sure what that’s all about. I imagine because he has a much higher profile. Some say he his real name is Bill Hicks, and the Alex Jones personna was an affectation character Bill Hicks once did on occasion among others. That Alex is controlled opposition and going after him just adds to his street cred. I heard “discovery” was granted in that case. Crazy concept all by itself. If you have never heard Gerry Spence’s story on how he went from the defender of the Monied Power to the little guy’s advocate is powerful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMrjQNfd-J8

I stumbled across this video thinking about your case. It’s another great interview with Gerry Spence who never lost a criminal case in 60 years practicing law. Most noteworthy of those was Randy Weaver who’s child and wife were both murdered by gov’t agents. Want to talk about a deck stacked against you? That was the biggest one of all and Gerry won that case and got Randy acquitted against the greatest odds. I know your case is civil and there’s big differences.

One of Gerry’s more interesting civil cases, I had personal contact with when I met a lady named Debra Delay who was in Jackson Hole back in 2003. At age 43 she got a call from a lady that said her real family was looking for her. Debra’s reaction…. “What real family?” Two girls were born on the same day at a hospital in Wyoming. One girl was from a poor Mexican family and the other was from a well to do Irish Family. The Mexican father switched the girls at the hospital and they were on the hook for gross negligence. Imagine being the only fair skinned girl living on the wrong side of the tracks. And this Irish family having to explain this Mexican girl they were raising. The father always knew it was not his daughter and raised the girl just like the rest of kids. Imagine two girls living lives they knew weren’t really theirs. Hearing this story first hand at a bar over beers was mind blowing. Her name was Delay, and hers lasted 43 years for meeting her real family. Her dad was on his death bed when they finally met. It was the craziest story I’ve ever had first hand knowledge of. I am shocked a movie was never made of this story. How the case played out is a whole ‘nother story. This story was covered better in England, pretty shocking when you think about it. I bet know one thinks of having their new born genetically tested before leaving the hospital, perhaps they should insist after reading this story.

    1. Thanks Dave. Very interesting story indeed.

In fact, Gerry Spence is one of Louis Leo’s major heroes. If you could only have witnessed the contrast of techniques & arguments between our legal team and FAU’s at trial. Well, let’s just say that those who relied on the newspapers never got the “full story.”

      1. One of Gerry’s books was titled “justice for none”… what an indictment of our system from someone in a unique situation to know. Here’s the story on the switched at birth story from Wyoming. It’s just the tip of the iceberg. I got one detail from Debra that never made the papers. The Mexican father switched the girls. The hospital said there were no damages due since Wyoming law does not recognize emotional harm verses physical harm. That’s where the ” justice for none” kicks in. Both cases against the hospital were dismissed! https://www.cbsnews.com/news/family-secrets-switched-at-birth-18-07-2003/
