Editor’s Note: Why is the most well-known news weekly in the Western world, for well over five decades, been so enamored by the most murderous regimes in human history?
I never forgot this magazine cover when it came out. I was graduating high school that year (1963) and had just done an extensive study of 1984 and Brave New World, quite aware that the world was not as it was presented to us. It was the start of the hippie movement and Marxism was beginning to take hold, up in Canada under the hand of JT’s “father” Pierre. Mao’s “Little Red Book” was mandatory reading for anyone who considered themselves to be “progressive and cool”.
I was completely unaware of all of that, since I never was a fan of TIME magazine, even as a teenager. Thanks.
