(We are amused at the Guardian’s concern, especially since journalists and news orgs have participated with gov’t entities in the wholesale manufacture of stories for decades. See e.g. “The CIA and the Media,” MHB, August 2015.)

guardian-breachBritain’s center-left Guardian newspaper has apologized after it emerged one of its reporters had been fabricating interviews and falsely claiming to have been at events he wrote about.

Joseph Mayton, a California-based freelancer who has been writing for the paper since 2009, was accused of making up quotes in some stories and filing interviews with people who later said they had never spoken to him.

The Guardian, which has been forced to make a large number of its reporters redundant in recent months owing to financial difficulties, published an apology to readers and to the “people whose words were misrepresented or falsified.”

Guardian US editor Lee Glendinning said suspicions were raised in February when sources contacted the company to say they had not spoken to Mayton despite being quoted by him.

The journalist was “unable to provide convincing evidence that the interviews in question had taken place.”

An independent fact-checker was hired to look through the 64 articles written by Mayton and speak to around 50 people supposedly quoted. They found widespread evidence of “likely or confirmed fabrication.”

“Dozens of sources could not be found – either they had no online presence or they were anonymous and could not be substantiated – and several people quoted in Mayton’s articles either denied speaking with him or giving the quotes attributed to them.”

The Guardian has now removed 13 of Mayton’s articles from its website, and many others have been amended to remove inaccuracies.

Mayton, however, denies any fabrication.

“These accusations are incorrect and I have provided evidence showing that many sources had in fact spoken with me and either did not remember or refused to be truthful.

“Granted many of these sources had been spoken with months or years in the past.”

Mayton says many of his interview notes have been lost or were not kept, so could not provide the evidence the Guardian was asking for.

“I admit that I did not do a solid job of keeping records older than a few months and that is my mistake and I am responsible for it. I, like everyone else in our profession, has made mistakes,” he wrote.

  1. Sifting any truth from the 99% lies, distortions, half-truths, and partial truths spewed 24/7 from ‘news’ outlets is daunting.
If only we could go back to believing our lying eyes. But, with the photo-shop and camera tricks used, that’s difficult as well.
The real issue is that lying, cheating and stealing are acceptable. There is no punishment for immoral behavior. Like the old song title and lyrics told us decades ago, “Anything Goes”.

  2. He’s a liar. “I, like everyone else…” – HA, if that doesn’t sound obvious. Actually, lying is the mark of a main stream media professional – perhaps the “everyone else” is accurate.

  3. Many of the news reporters are mind controlled. It is difficult to understand the depth of this depravity without reading Trance Formation by Kathy O”Brien or either Thanks for the memories by Brice Taylor.

What happened to these children boggles the human mind. Electro shock, satanic orgies, passed around by catholic clergy, used by a black goat named satan.

You may remember Kathleen Sullivan, a former news reporter. In her book (Unshackled) she claims she was raped by Billy Graham and many others. You see Billy is actually William Franks of German descent and his son fought in the Israeli army.

The trigger controls given to these poor mind controlled children run the gamut. They are found in all types of music, country music and rock, religious services, all of the Disney themes are involved in mind control. Some children spoke of pedophile priests who in confession say “I hear you are a good cath-lick.

Terms from Alice in Wonderland are prevalent such as the yellow brick road and over the rainbow. Shock treatment is a big hit with the satanists.

So don’t expect much from journalists.

  4. Another distraction! As long as the Guardian keeps dutifully censoring the self-evident terrorist controlled demolition of the Twin Towers, the Masters of Plato’s thick and worldwide cave can keep their jobs.

  5. John Swinton on the Free Press

One night, probably in 1880, John Swinton, then the preeminent New York journalist, was the guest of honour at a banquet given him by the leaders of his craft. Someone who knew neither the press nor Swinton offered a toast to the independent press. Swinton outraged his colleagues by replying:

“There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it.

There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with.

Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.

The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press?

We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.”

  6. The last quote is one of two I keep handy that to me explains quite a bit without further ado. It keeps things simple. For those who don’t believe that certain aspects of the future could be predicted … I bring you

Sometime around 23 hundred years ago we see in the Mahabharata Ydhishthira has a vision of the age to come: I see the coming of another age, where barbaric kings rule over a vicious, broken world, where puny, fearful men live tiny lives, white hair at sixteen, copulating with animals, their women perfect whores, making love with greedy mouths. The cows dry, trees stunted, no more flowers, no more purity, ambition, corruption, the age of Kali, the black time.”
