We Are NOT Charlie Hebdo

This week’s guest on Real Politik is Islamic Studies scholar, journalist, and pioneer 9/11 Truth activist Kevin Barrett. Dr. Barrett discusses his most recent book, We Are Not Charlie Hebdo: Free Thinkers Question the French 9/11, an exciting new volume featuring contributions from Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, Dr. Webster Tarpley, Barbara Honegger, Alain Soral, Rabbi Michael Lerner, Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and many more.

Barrett holds a doctorate in Arabic Studies from The University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is a regular columnist at Iran’s PressTV, an editor at Veterans Today, and the host of his long-running interview program Truth Jihad Radio. Barrett is also the author of Truth Jihad: My Epic Struggle Against the 9/11 Big Lie (Progressive 2006) and Questioning the War on Terror: A Primer for Obama Voters (Khadir, 2009).

Interview Highlights

Dr. Barrett was driven out of the US academy close to 10 years ago following a relentless campaign by Wisconsin state GOP leaders. Since then he has taken up education through the alternative media. “I think it’s very beneficial on a personal level,” he notes.

I think that if you get too comfortable in the academy you lose your edge, to say the least. The whole academy is built on a lot of petty territorial bickering and everybody is producing stuff that very few people are going to want to read.

I was able to coexist OK with most of the people in the various places I worked, including San Francisco State University, Contra Costa College, out in the Bay Area, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, but I noticed there were swirling around me these unfortunate aspects of what people do in the academy.

I’d always thought that we were supposed to be the conscience of the nation, you know? The public intellectual had a role to play as the watchdog–sort of like the media was supposed to be. I grew up when Watergate was in the news. So I majored in journalism as an undergraduate. I was then disillusioned with mainstream journalism and realized that literature was better writing. In fact, that’s the definition of literature, really, what everyone agrees is the most important and best writing that’s ever been written.

“The University of Wisconsin … claims to be educating the entire community–the entire state–and not just the folks in the university. What I’m doing is seeking the truth. I think I’m doing it better than they are right now.”-Barrett on his decade-long career in alternative media.

So I studied that, and I noticed that Noam Chomsky was telling hard truths about the horrible oppression of American imperialists all over the world. I thought, “This looks like a nice gig. You get paid and you can serve as the conscience of your community and do hard intellectual work.” But once I was involved I saw all the petty territorial issues and noticed that the courage to really question things is not always there.

Around this time the events of September 11, 2001 changed Kevin’s orientation toward university life completely.

I was already half-dissilussioned with the academy when 9/11 came along. It took me two years to figure out that 9/11 was not just a false flag operation, but an obvious one. They left so much evidence. Apparently a lot of people screwed up that day. I picked that one up and ran with it. I did teach ins, did research, published, and then got railroaded by politicians–Republicans in the Wisconsin state legislature, under the direction of Karl Rove and Lynne Cheney presumably. They [wanted] to make an example of me to scare away professors [from examining 9/11]. So ever since then I’ve been in this kind of netherworld. They call me a “noted scholar” at Press TV, which is not exactly right. But what I’m doing now is seeking the truth, and trying to publicize the truth and educate the larger community. And I think that’s what really the academy should be doing. Here at the University of Wisconsin the “Wisconsin idea” is to be educating the entire community–the entire state–and not just the folks in the university. I think I’m doing it better than they are right now.

We Are NOT Charlie Hebdo is a provocative and far-ranging examination of how public emotions can be manipulated in the wake of a mediated event–what Bakunin termed “the propaganda of the act.” Deemed “France’s 9/11,” the Charlie Hebdo event is especially noteworthy because it embodies all of the elements that have propped up the “war on terror” for close to 15 years. With the suggestion of Islam as the principal source of religious fanaticism, powerful forces have once again employed mass media and public relations to fan public prejudice, thereby paving the way for a murderous foreign policy abroad and further intensification of the police state at home.

“There’s really a kind of a war going on between what I would call post-Judaism, or “Holocaustianity,” Barrett argues.

It’s not really Judaism anymore. It’s a new secular ideology that worships the Holocaust that has founded the state of Israel, and I believe that ideology is really just a tool of the international banksters. So these people are dupes, really They’re not the ultimate bad guys. But those people are at war with Islam. They’re stealing Islamic holy land. They’re basically at war with more than 1.5 billion Muslims. In order to keep that project going and succeed at it, the only way they can do it is to hijack the West and send the West to war against their enemies–that is, against the religion and people of Islam. That’s really the bottom line of what’s going on. The blasphemy against Christianity, a lot of it is coming from the same people–these sort of post-Jewish Holocaustians and extreme secularists who really hate Christianity even more than they hate Islam.

  1. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO MY FELLOW AMERICaNS. LET’S CELEBRATE OUR COUNTRy’S BIRTHDAY WITH FERVOR AND PRIDE.

I will not allow the rancorus timbre of the times (that is with small ‘t’s –lol) to spoil my jubilant mood.

So in your face, boo birds! Go whine on someone else’s party. God Bless America and We The People.

  2. Happy 4th to the Truth Squad… JT, JF, Kevin and the Gallery of frequent contributors. I appreciate all of you so much. It’s been about 8 years awake now for me. I really do think John Carpenter needs to remake “They Live” with all new technology of FX. I think so much of that movie is dead on and just nails what is happening. Whether or not it really is aliens hiding in plain site – running the show – doesn’t matter. It’s the personification of true evil at the core. Instead of aliens, maybe it’s really Satan himself… certainly would explain things because it’s hard to picture what’s in the soul of these men that would call a drone strike on a wedding party. When I saw the pictures of the Depleted Uranium babies from Iraq, I thought who could do this to other human beings? I tried to picture anyone not being moved to tears and despair. I have personally met a few people during my life that seem to be devoid of empathy, that when you looked into their eyes, you could see there was no soul in them, like empathy had been genetically removed. These are the creatures among us that are not human. They look human, but they’re not. I would give a pretty penny to see the full version of Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Eyes Wide Shut’. I heard that 20 minutes was cut that watered down the released version, much like Apocalypse Now – one of the few director’s cuts that is far superior to the theater version. Some people think Stanely was killed because he dared to expose the real PTB in ‘Eyes Wide Shut’. Might be something to that.

    1. Yes, exactly. I have known a few. I think I know what you are talking about. I’m not talking about the “wannabes”, the ones who have truly lost their souls have a look.

They say “the eyes are the windows of the soul”. In their eyes there is only “The Abyss”. That should not be confused, necessarily, with hatred or aggression. I knew one once who, through her eyes and look told me more than I wanted to know.

Arguing “right and wrong” with such a being is pointless. They regard your strengths as your weaknesses. They don’t want them. Oddly enough, once that is out of the way you can actually conduct business with them. At least you are free from any illusions about their being “misguided”.

  3. I have that cd, eyes wide shut. Nicole Kidman’s dad turned out to be a pedophile. What a surprise.

Kevin Barrett mentions the bay area. The other day a TV film crew was pistol whipped and their cameras stolen. Two guys rode up in a BMW, pistoled whipped them and drove off with their cameras. It looks like TV credibility is on the wane in Cisco.

I definitely think they killed Kubrick. Rumors are that he filmed the moon landing in the California desert and knew too much.

    David Kraft,

Kubrick, I am somewhat familiar with.

  4. A little off topic, however dead on for the 4th of July: The US Border Patrol stops a Greyhound Bus 50 miles from Mexico and delays the trip for 30 minutes checking for “papers, please” without the please part and asking to search everyone and their luggage. Only one man refused to be searched. Christopher Fontenot was traveling from Alabama to Arizona for an electronics conference. This was the third time on the trip he had encountered a border patrol checkpoint a long ways from the border. One checkpoint was 58 miles from the border in Benson, Arizona. Theses stops cost Fontenot 90 minutes total travel time. The Border Agent tried to intimidate him by saying he must have something to hide if he refused to be searched. When Fontenot said the search was unconstitutional, they stopped hassling him and hauled away a lady up front. It was an American woman with red hair and snow white skin near the front; hauled away in handcuffs after complying with a search. What if everyone on the bus had refused to be search?

Why does the Border Patrol operate so far from Mexico? I was under the impression their job is to prevent people from entering from Mexico illegally. While these border agents were hassling a busload of Americans 50 miles from Mexico, one must ponder how many illegals were entering our country unimpeded? It’s a fair question that I expect to get no valid answer for – from our government.

Fontenot vowed to never travel with Greyhound again or for that matter, anything but his personal car. He also vowed to never travel Interstate 10 again. That must be great news to all the merchants down there… That people are avoiding your area and not because they are afraid of the illegals; because they are sick of being molested by our own Border Patrol. The merchants of Benson, Arizona might want to have a meeting on that down at the Chamber of Commerce.

Highway harassment is not confined to the border zone. People traveling Interstate 80 near Winnemucca, Nevada have been pulled over by a Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff for doing 3 miles over the speed limit and had large amounts of cash “confiscated” because they couldn’t prove they owned the money legally. That’s a polite way of saying robbed by law enforcement. Never, ever submit to a search. Having nothing to hide has nothing to do with it. Next time you travel in Nevada, avoid Humboldt County like everyone there has Ebola. The town merchants of Winnemucca might also want to have a meeting on this down at the Chamber of commerce. Just one more reason to take the road less traveled.

    1. Gerald that is a must see video! I have watched that movie several times and missed some of this.

Of course Cruz was a scientologist. They have a masonic charter.

This may have have affected Kubrick also.

“We have become a Nazi monster in the eyes of the whole world, a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just Whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us. No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we’ll kill you. Who does vote for these dishonest shitheads? Who among us can be happy and proud of having all this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? They are the same ones who wanted to have Muhammad Ali locked up for refusing to kill gooks. They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are the racists and hate mongers among us; they are the Ku Klux Klan. I piss down the throats of these Nazis. And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not. F**k them.”
      – Hunter S. Thompson (Suicided?)

    2. Well Derek, for one thing, it seems they have declared a 100 mile swath completely encircling the US as a “Constitution Free Zone”. In other words, the Fourth Amendment (or any of the others I presume) simply don’t apply within it.

Now, odd as it seems, I can believe these soulless mutts doing something like that, what is more difficult to believe is that no one seems to be raising a fuss about it, at least as far as I know.

So the theory goes, anywhere within this zone we can be stopped with no probable cause. The Nevada cops have simply turned into “highwaymen” stealing at will.

My question is, if these are “Constitution Free Zones” does that mean all of our other liberties are null and void within them as well? Can someone create laws affecting the Constitution by Executive Order?

I always tell people that regardless of what is written, if as a practical matter they do something to you and get away with it, what is the point? If I say “stealing is illegal”, but then proceed to steal from you and no one will prosecute, what good does the promise do?

So, you are free, now show me your papers.

      1. What confuses me about these “Constitution Free Zones” is that the Constitution has nothing to do with OUR rights: those we have by virtue of being human, granted to us by God. Inalienable. WE can’t give them away, and the government can’t take them.

What does “Constitution Free” mean, anyway?? That the federal government isn’t limited there? (Rhetorical question, mostly). Another one: what the hell happened to the doctrine of interposition? Why haven’t the states said NO?

  5. Speaking of France and the strange Charlie Hebdo deal where all the protestors just happen to have the same sign, This Frenchman’s analysis of ‘Eyes Wide Shut” is a eye opening. It makes you really take a second and third look at all of Kubrick’s work… how subliminal every film he makes is and you realize why you never really get the picture on first viewing. It’s what’s going on in the background that is often more important than center stage. You gotta’ watch this one.

    1. This is news? ALL of Kubrick’s films are masonic/kabbalistic—-the symbols are the story line. Kubrick would not have had a film ‘career’ if he hadn’t been kabbala-approved. The fact that Kubrick died shortly after filming EWS leads to the suspicion that he gave away too much or too much at the wrong time, in that last film. Either way, there are no accidents.

    1. This is huge news. I don’t know how far this will get, but if nothing else, more focus, scrutiny and light will be shined on this dark, evil event than ever before. John Lennon wrote a song called “how do you sleep at night?”. Some people think it was written about Faul for living a lie as the replacement Beatle. All the money in the world can’t wash clean their souls for perpetrating Sandy Hook. I must lump in Charleston as a cosmic echo. One of the reasons people believe these scams is the news is so horrible, one natural reaction is to recoil away from the details to enable yourself to move on with your day. It’s like a partitioning of the mind as a self preservation of your sanity. I did it with 911. The news was so horrible I had to file away most of it into the “too unpleasant to think about much” box.

    2. Isn’t this last years news and they locked him up and threw away the key after all his rants blazing out of mind on go fast?

  6. I am always pleased when I can wholeheartedly agree with something someone writes. Dr. Barrett writes:
“It’s a new secular ideology that worships the Holocaust that has founded the state of Israel, and I believe that ideology is really just a tool of the international banksters. The blasphemy against Christianity, a lot of it is coming from the same people–these sort of post-Jewish Holocaustians and extreme secularists who really hate Christianity even more than they hate Islam”.

There is another level quite older than “Holocaustianity”. Basically, we are all here earmarked for destruction, and thus suitable for contempt, but from the first translation of the Babylonian Talmud there has been a special place in the plan for the destruction of Christianity. Islam may get center billing, but that is largely a ruse. The fact is, all the Goyim, share the same fate.

His remarks are spot on, however, regarding the “shift” in Judaism. I’ve encountered this personally many times recently. The current crop may be weak theologically but the glue that binds is the H-myth. Ironically, it is much the same as the recent “racial” issues in terms of technique. Hmmmm?

“Someone did something to me and, therefore, you owe me” has been so successful that it makes little sense not to expand upon it. The Muslims are more savvy than the Christians in this regard. Nobody is fooling them into shame.

My advice, as always, read Reed:

  7. To Dr. Barrett, thanks for this refreshing perspective. And for finally naming the elephant in the room and going so far as to shine a light on it.

A question Dr. Barrett, if you would: the Muslim world is expecting a Mahdi. Do you foresee rogue forces supplying just such a leader in order to establish a new world order? Manipulate a couple billion Muslims? Someone to unify the world in an effort to crush the US people, planned and executed by no doubt rogue US leadership?

  8. Off topic, but for those in CA, a physician-assisted suicide bill is up for vote:

According to liberal Los Angeles Times columnist George Skelton, there are 6 Democrats on the California Assembly Health Committee who don’t like SB 128. Call them now, and tell them to vote “NO” on SB 128:

Lorena Gonzalez of San Diego: (916) 319-2080
Jimmy Gomez of downtown Los Angeles: (916) 319-2051
Roger Hernández of West Covina: (916) 319-2048
    Freddie Rodriguez of Pomona/Chino: (916) 319-2052
Miguel Santiago of downtown Los Angeles: (916) 319-2053
    Sebastian Ridley-Thomas of Culver City: (916) 319-2054
Also call these 2 Republicans from San Diego County on the committee:

    Brian Maienschein (916) 319-2077
    Rocky Chávez (916) 319-2076

I called each to urge a “no” vote. It’s super easy.
